2. User Safety: In-App Block & Report Mechanisms (UGC Policy)
Notex strictly complies with Google Play User-Generated Content (UGC) policies. Users have immediate access to in-app Block and Report mechanisms. You can block or report any contact with a single tap to immediately stop communication and report abusive users or inappropriate content to our safety team.
3. Data Collection and Usage
Notex is a privacy-focused peer-to-peer (P2P) messaging application. Here is how your data is handled:
- Authentication: We use secure authentication protocols (such as Google Sign-In) to verify your account identity. Your email is used solely to route incoming chat invites and messages.
- Messages and Media: Messages, photos, videos, and files shared inside the chat are transmitted securely and stored in our database. We do not inspect, analyze, or share your messages with any third-party services.
- Peer-to-Peer Calling: All audio and video call streams are established directly between you and your contact (Peer-to-Peer) using Jitsi-powered technologies. Call content is fully private and never saved or routed through intermediate recording servers.
🔐 Special Privacy Features Justification
To maximize user physical safety and protection, Notex includes the following features:
- Auto Privacy Lock: Upon minimizing or exiting, Notex automatically closes active chat sessions and clears itself from the Android recent apps switcher. This prevents accidental exposure of conversation histories to anyone holding the device.
- Privacy Cover Interface: The app opens with a standard, fully functional notes manager view. Access to the secret chat panel is secured behind a user-defined lock pattern, protecting communications from unwanted shoulder surfing in public places.
3. Permissions Required
To provide functional communication capabilities, Notex requests the following device permissions:
- Camera: To capture photos/videos for chats and enable video calls.
- Microphone: To enable real-time voice transmissions during calls.
- Storage: To temporarily cache and access media attachments (photos, videos, and documents) shared by your contacts.
4. Monetization and Third-Party Services
To support the development and maintenance of Notex, we offer subscription plans and ad-supported access options. The following third-party services are integrated:
- Google Play Billing: Subscription payments (Unlimited Premium and Emergency Unlocks) are processed securely through Google Play's official billing system. We do not store or collect your financial details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses.
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob): For users who choose the ad-supported unlock option, the app integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID) to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, run rewarded ad campaigns, and track ad views for the Spin Wheel unlocks.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Users have absolute control over their account data. You can delete your chat history or request full account deletion directly from the application settings, which will permanently purge all related data from our servers.
